Katherine Keith

As a child, Katherine Keith—a renowned Iditarod musher, author, and wellness coach—dreamed of one day living in Alaska. A voracious reader, Katherine ate up all the stories of The Last Frontier. At 21 years old, Katherine packed up her bags and turned her childhood dream into a reality. Desperately in need of money, she took the first jobs available, including one as a dog handler at a glacier tourism company. Later, she began working and training with well-known Iditarod musher Ed Iten.

Years later, and after intense training, Katherine has participated in numerous races. Her feats include one 1,000 mile Yukon Quest, two Kuskokwim 300s, five Kobuk 440s, and five 1,041 mile Iditarod races. She has also won numerous awards, such as the 2014 Sportsmanship Award and the 2016 Humanitarian Award from the Kobuk 440.

Outside of her extensive list of accomplishments, Katherine is also an Author. Her latest book Epic Solitude: A Story of Survival and a Quest for Meaning in the Far North comes out on February 4th. She shares her experiences of living in the remote and rugged Alaskan Wilderness. In the book, Katherine writes about her experience building a life with her husband, miles away from anyone. She quickly learned how to keep going despite every challenge thrown her way.

What lies behind you and what lies in front of you, pales in comparison to what lies inside of you

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Ask a question, look to nature, and let it teach you.

I swear the earth shall surely be complete to him or her who shall be complete, The earth remains jagged and broken only to him or her who remains jagged and broken.
